The original Browning Auto-5 is considered to be nothing less than a legend in hunting and shooting sports. Though the new A5 shares only the name and humpback receiver profile with John M. Browning’s original autoloader, these new guns build on the legacy of reliability and performance earned by their namesake.
The humpback-shaped receiver of the new Browning A5 may bring back fond memories, but make no mistake, this isn’t your Grandpa’s shotgun. With the all-new Kinematic Drive System, the A5 is simply the most reliable, fastest cycling, best balanced, and softest shooting recoil-operated autoloader on the planet. We are so confident in the A5, we are standing behind it with a 100,000 round or five-year guarantee that this shotgun will work, come hell or high water. But don’t just take our word for it, get your hands on the unstoppable A5 today.
Underneath the camo exterior are all the advantages you are looking for. A strong, lightweight aluminum alloy receiver, a barrel with a lightweight profile, and a flat, ventilated rib. The recoil-operated Kinematic Drive is ultra-reliable and cycles a wide range of loads, the stock is composite with a close radius pistol grip and it is shim adjustable for length of pull, cast, and drop.

Browning – The Best There Is
I grew up shooting the old school auto 5 as a kid. So between that and my love for Browning products, it was a simple choice to purchase this gun. I used it for several pheasant hunts and a couple duck hunts initially with no issue. The heavier loads cycled fine but when I took it to the sporting clays range with light loads, it did have a few cycling issues which other reviewers have pointed out. I broke down my gun to clean it and used a good lubricating product on the moving parts. I wish I had done that sooner to give me more peace of mind on the sporting clays course, but lesson learned. It is good practice to break down your gun and clean it from factory anyways. This gun cycles flawlessly now, it doesn’t matter if I am shooting the lightest of loads or heavy. If you are looking for an inertia driven shotgun or just a semi-auto shotgun in general, look no further.

Browning A5 3.5” BOTTOMLANDS CAMO
Bought this shotgun in October 2017. Took it out pheasant hunting a few times ran 2-3/4 6 shot through it with no problems. But ultimately bought it for a snow goose trip i had planned in Arkansas. Well during the hunt i put almost 2-case’s 500 shells of 3″ and a couple box’s of 3.5″ through it. I had very few problems i was running a plus 5 mag extension on it over the 4 day hunt I only had to disassemble the gun 1-time on the 4th day for some reason the bolt locked to the rear. I dropped the trigger assembly out and boom the bolt slid forward easy fix. When i got home i totally disassembled the gun removed the butt stock and cleaned and lubed the inertia spring in the stock. I highly recommend you do this when you first get the gun. Because after i did this the bolt cycled smoother than ever. My friend that has an A5 wicked wing confirmed my same thoughts he was having issues with his and did the same thing and ever since zero issue’s. Overall a great gun. On the snow goose hunt all the guns had small issue’s benelli’s, winchesters, beretta’s had a stoger’s butt stock fall off. However the conditions were very dirty in layout blinds caked with mud and rice stalks. Overall very pleased with the gun and would not think twice about purchasing a second.

Sweet gun
I bought an A5 before duck season last year and WOW what a difference this gun made. We hunt a lot of teal in Florida and these little birds are fast to say the least. The raise hump at the rear of the receiver help target the birds quicker than my Remington VersaMAX. Greatly improving my shot to kill ratio. After duck season I decided to try it out turkey hunting. The guns light weight was really a bonus on some of the long walk in hunt we do. If you do get this gun do not lubricate it with cheap gun oil. Both my VersaMAX and A5 had problems with REM oil. The only negative I can say about this gun is it does have a recoil with 3.5″ turkey loads.
+ Pros: receiver design, light weight
– Cons: recoil with 3.5″ shells

Amazing shotgun
– Used a Remington 1100 12 gauge for the past 20 years. Issue was couldn’t reach out and hit the geese when they were flying high.
– Purchased A5. Went trap shooting after purchase. Ran 2.75 through 3.5 shells through it. Target shells of 2.75 would sometimes jam, hunting shells of 2.75 worked fine. No issues with the 3 – 3.5 shells.
– Lesson learned. After purchase break the gun down and oil all moving parts before using. Never had an issues with 2.75 – 3.5 loads going forward.
– Used A5 for over a year. Great duck and goose gun. Shoots every time in pouring rain as well in dry weather. Easy to breakdown and clean.

Wow!!!!
This gun is hands down the best wing shooting gun on the market. I did have it jam when i first shot some 7.5 shot for clays. I broke it down and killed everything on it!! If you use good lubricant it will cycle with no problem. I have shot this gun now for 1.5 years and have not had a jam since the first time i shot clays with it. This gun is the only gun that i have ever had that who ever shoulders it will have the sight line up perfect with your eyes. There is no other gun like it. I put a pattern master choke in it and ducks are getting dropped at 40 yards no problem. I hunt very hard with this gun and it has gone above and beyond what i expected. Thank you Browning because my family mostly shoots browning shotguns and we have never had problems.

Great Product
I had the old auto-5 given to me by my Grandfather and it was great until we had it bored out for choke tubes which ended up wrecking the barrel so I ended up saving my money and decided to go with this A5 and i’m never going back it has been very reliable when shooting everything from light trap loads to heavy 3 1/2″ inch magnums. The gun does tend to kick a lot but I’ve found that it swings more naturally than any gun I’ve shot which makes folding ducks, geese and clays a breeze. Love this gun and its innovatio

Solid Shotgun
for the past 4 years I have tried pumps in semi auto. I was tired of trading to try to find the best waterfowl shotgun. ehen I heard about the new A5 I was interested instantly. Never had a Browning before… 1600… idk. But I told myself that it would be a great investment. It was. Shotgun is adjustable, solid, and smooth! I love the auto load. Patterns great and cycles anything you feed it. Spend the money u wont regret it because when u take time and effort to waterfowl hunt, u should have the best tools. The new Browning A5 is just that!

Great Gun!
Most balanced shotgun I have ever held to my shoulder. Gun does have a lot of kick, but what else would you expect from a 3.5 inch semi-auto gun? Been goose hunting twice with it already this year, and have been taking down geese, ducks, and crane with ease! Love the gun, price is steep, but you get what you pay for!

Jammimg Machine
I purchased the 3.5″ in November. Love my SBEII and got this as a backup gun..Decided to try it so I took both guns to the blind, thank God. Browning was shot 7 times and jammed on 4. Friend bought one at the same time. Same results.
